True Classics

You haven’t fully experienced college life here until you’ve tried these local spots.

  • Dixie Chicken (“The Chicken”) – The oldest bar on Northgate. It’s been around for generations; if you go for a burger and don’t get a beer, there’s a problem.
  • Chicken Oil Co. – Owned by the same team behind The Chicken, this spot offers a more traditional restaurant atmosphere.
  • Kettle Restaurant – A long-standing Bryan breakfast spot. It’s the perfect place to get breakfast and have an hour-long study session.
  • Blue Baker – An Aggieland staple. It’s the perfect place to grab fresh-baked bread, gourmet sandwiches, or a warm bowl of soup.
  • Original Layne’s – Before you leave, you have to hit the “Soon to be Famous” chicken tenders. It’s got a cool, old-school vibe and some of the most reliable chicken in town (and it’s better than Cane’s!).

Burgers, BBQ & Comfort Food

BCS knows how to do comfort food right. Whether you’re looking for a legendary smash burger or local-style brisket, these spots deliver.

  • Koppe Bridge Bar & Grill – A multi-year winner of the “Best Burger in the Brazos Valley” award. Come hungry: the portions are huge, and the atmosphere is very Texas.
  • Burger Mojo – For those who like their burgers with a twist, this is the place. They serve up delicious, slightly experimental smash burgers that are consistently top-tier (and the fries are great, too).
  • Top of the Hill – A true hole-in-the-wall in Bryan. It’s greasy, it’s heavy, and it is absolutely delicious.
  • C&J BBQ – The most well-known name in local barbecue. With several locations around town, it’s the go-to spot for good brisket and sausage.

Tacos & Fusion

Looking for a quick, flavorful bite? These spots are famous for their unique takes.

  • Fuego Tortilla Grill – A fan favorite for the younger crowd. They specialize in burrito-huge, fusion tacos that are fast, affordable, and incredibly crave-able (try the Dr. Pepper Cowboy).
  • Remnant of Nawlins – A local Cajun hole-in-the-wall that brings the tastes of Louisiana to the Brazos Valley.

Pizza: The Great Debate

There’s a long-standing debate in BCS regarding the best pie in town. Try them yourself and see what you think.

  • RX Pizza – Known for being a top-tier pizza destination with an undeniably cool atmosphere in Downtown Bryan.
  • Mr. G’s – The legendary rival sitting right across the street from RX. It’s highly underrated, and many locals argue it might actually be better than its neighbor.
  • Gumby’s Pizza – Famous for having the best pizza rolls in College Station. With a fun, laid-back vibe and a legendary Tuesday deal, it’s the perfect spot to watch the game.

Ramen, Sushi & International Flavors

The culinary scene in BCS has exploded in recent years, especially with these standout international spots.

  • Tanaka Ramen – Exceptional ramen bowls that offer plenty of variety. If you like heat, they’ve got plenty of ways to turn up the spice.
  • Bo’s Ramen – Featuring cool anime vibes, this spot is a standout for awesome ramen bowls, fresh sushi, and boba.
  • Yummi Yummi Mongolian Grill – The go-to for sushi that doesn’t break the bank. Keep an eye on their happy hour specials.
  • Chef Cao’s – Widely considered the best Chinese food in town, with locations near campus and in South College Station.
  • Napa Flats – A slightly nicer option for Italian-inspired cuisine. It’s consistently great food at a price that won’t empty your wallet.
